Welcome, I’m Ayo

I’m here to provide a safe, compassionate, and understanding space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Life can be overwhelming, and navigating it alone isn’t easy. My role is to walk alongside you, offering the support and tools you need to create meaningful change and reconnect with your authentic self.

My Experience and Approach

I’ve spent over 15 years working with individuals, children, and families as they navigate the complexities of life. My professional expertise is matched by a deep commitment to meeting you where you are, tailoring every session to your unique needs and story.

I specialise in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), which is particularly helpful for addressing anxiety, shame, self-criticism, and other challenges. This approach is about cultivating kindness toward yourself—something that can transform the way you face life’s difficulties.

I also draw on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy, creating a flexible, integrative approach that honours your personal experiences. But beyond the techniques, my therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and down-to-earth. Therapy isn’t just about tackling what feels wrong—it’s about helping you rediscover your strengths, set boundaries, and take meaningful steps toward the life you want.

I’m interested in how issues of migration, colonialism and intersectionality show up in the lives of black women and I consider these ideas in the therapy room.

A Special Focus: Eldest Daughters

If you’ve ever been the one who holds it all together—the dependable, responsible one—you’ll know how heavy that role can feel. While I work with clients from all walks of life, I have a special passion for supporting eldest daughters who’ve carried these invisible burdens.

Being the strong one can mean sacrificing your own needs, battling burnout, and feeling disconnected from who you really are. I know this because I’ve been there too. Therapy can be a space to put yourself first for once:

  • Learn to set boundaries without guilt

  • Let go of the need to always be “perfect”

  • Reclaim your energy and time for what truly matters to you

  • Reconnect with who you are beyond the roles you play

You don’t have to do it all. Together, we’ll work on breaking free from cycles of overwork and self-sacrifice so you can step into a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.

Religious Trauma, Faith Deconstruction and Reimagining

I also have a special interest in supporting people to navigate religious trauma and faith deconstruction.

Although faith and spirituality can be deeply meaningful and provide purpose to your life. Sometimes faith communities or religious teachings can leave you feeling anxious, powerless and like you are broken at your core.

And if you’ve always been the dependable daughter, the one who made the family proud, who didn’t rock the boat—then questioning your faith can feel especially hard.

Maybe church was where you learned to be “good,” to put others first, to stay strong no matter what. And maybe now, as you start to wonder what you really believe, it feels like you’re breaking the very rules that shaped you.

It can be a very lonely place. Inside church, you don’t feel safe voicing your doubts, questions or disagreements about what you have been taught. But outside church, people can’t understand why it even matters so much.

It takes so much work to explain how you have been taught to see the world. It’s like trying to communicate to people who are from a different planet! So you end up holding it all in, just like you’ve always done.

But you don’t have to do that here.

I get it, I’ve been on my own deconstruction journey and whilst all our experiences are unique, I know how challenging it can be.

In therapy with me you get to be honest about it all—the joy, the pain, and the questions you’re scared to say out loud. Together, we’ll untangle the ways faith, family, and responsibility have shaped you, and gently reimagine what it could look like to have a spiritual life that feels healing, spacious, and true to you—not just the version of you others wanted.

“Spiritual Trauma is someone handing you an inner critic and telling you it’s the voice of God”

— Dr Hilary L. McBride

Why I Do This Work

I believe in therapy because I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be. My own journey of growth and self-discovery has taught me how scary it can feel to prioritise yourself—especially when you’re used to putting everyone else first. But I’ve also learned how powerful it is to take that step, to embrace who you truly are and create a life that feels like yours.

That’s why I approach my work with a combination of professional expertise and heartfelt empathy. I understand the courage it takes to make changes and the fears that can arise along the way. My role is to walk alongside you, offering both the tools and the reassurance you need to keep moving forward.

Clients often tell me that they feel truly seen and understood in our sessions, and that’s my greatest priority. Whether you’re working through challenges or simply looking for a space to reconnect with yourself, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

A Little Bit About Me

When I’m not in session, you’ll probably find me revelling in the simple joys of life. I’m a proud Londoner who’s now rooted in the West Midlands, and I have a deep love for stories that celebrate Black British experiences and African culture.

I’m also a bit of a home design enthusiast—home renovation shows are my guilty pleasure, and I love dreaming up ways to transform spaces into something special. My wall planner and weekly meal planner keep me grounded, but like everyone, I have my moments of chaos. It’s all about finding your way back to balance, and that’s something I strive to model for myself and my clients.

Qualifications and Experience

I’m a registered psychotherapist and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and have advanced-level training in Compassion Focused Therapy through the Compassionate Mind Foundation. I am also a member of the Black, African and Asian Therapy Network (BAATN) and the Association of Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS).

Before starting in private practice, I worked as a Senior Psychological Therapist within the NHS. This role enriched my understanding of the diverse challenges my clients face and allows me to provide a grounded and evidence-based approach to therapy.

If you’re ready to take the next step

I would be honoured to support you on your journey. Together, we can work toward a life that feels more balanced, intentional, and aligned with who you truly are.
