Helping Church Girls Quiet the Anxiety, Stop Overfunctioning & Heal

Hi, I’m Ayo - welcome!

I’m Ayo, a BABCP accredited therapist and I’m passionate about helping women who are struggling with anxiety, burnout and spiritual trauma

When clients first come to me they often feel overwhelmed, isolated and have learned to minimise their needs, in order to play the role of “the good, strong, reliable” woman. They want to quiet their anxiety & recover from burnout so they can feel as confident and calm on the inside as they appear on the outside.

I use a combination of Compassion Focused Therapy, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy to help them replace self-criticism with compassion and reconnect with who they truly are.

You too deserve to feel seen, supported, and empowered - and you absolutely don’t have to do it alone.

Areas of Support Include

A Special Focus: Recovering Church Girls

While I work with clients from many walks of life, I have a particular passion for supporting  “recovering Church Girls”. This is the phrase I use to describe the brave women who are unlearning the unhelpful things they were taught about God and exploring what life can look like beyond fear-based faith & emotional suppression.

They have always been the responsible, dependable ones, carrying the weight of expectations at home, work, and in their church communities. But they haven’t always received the same level of support they have given to others. They are often experiencing anxiety and burnout - but this is invisible to those around them who can only see them as “strong” and “capable”.

Playing this role can leave you feeling overwhelmed and isolated, with little capacity for your own needs or identity. I understand the unique challenges this can bring, both personally and professionally. I provide a compassionate and understanding space where you can explore what it means to prioritise yourself, set boundaries, and reclaim your identity outside of the responsibilities you’ve carried for so long.

Therapy in this area can help you to:

  • Set boundaries and manage feelings of guilt

  • Stop performing the version of yourself that you think others want and re-connect with the real you

  • Unlearn patterns of overwork and shame driven self-sacrifice

  • Build confidence in embracing your own needs and desires

You’re allowed to take up space in your own life - and I’m here to help you do it.
